Something completely different ...!!!

Holla die Waldfee! Blessings to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service! We had a fire in our house, downstairs neighbours (basement) washing machine decided to go bust up in flames ... black and white smoke ...
I just did came back walking the dogs, when I saw the guy(from my kitchen window) in the yellow helmets outside ...  and then the doorbell rang  ... grabbed my wife the dogs and the keys and went out ... post-evacuation spent wisely in the pub getting to know the neighbours ...

Thats my 3rd time getting out of a house on fire! Thank you up there, my ancestors or who ever watches over me!

Now I'm getting myself a glass of red ... phew!

... packing in after they did their amazing work!!!

Seven Years and some stuff ...

Between bedsheets and a mountain of pills, and some nearly un-interrupted 24h sleep, I still had some time to paint and the test print of my new Seven Years war rules arrived!  Huzzah!

The Greek hoplites are still pressing (with their phalanx method) into my forefront of painting ... also down the second "light horse artillery" for my Landsknechts ... all WIP ... did some scenarios for German Peasant War, Great Italian Wars and AWI and Dark age for 28mm
(see http://meneken.blogspot.co.uk/p/possible-scenarios.html) for future use

and of course I installed the Seven Years page (see http://meneken.blogspot.co.uk/p/seven-years.html)

... and now back to paracetamol and the cushions ...

the cover with a nice shine

paper is also nice, but will laminate next time in matt ...

Phalanx unit

I just nearly finished my first Athenian heavy Hoplite unit ... apart from two bases as I was running out of sand, believe it or not. I have in mind later to double the sizes, but for now 1unit shall be a 120mm x 60 front and three 40x40 as back up or to spread out. I like one set piece of a frontal base as one can give it a little bit more of the phalanx feel to it. I'm thinking of whatever rules I will use, it must have the "othismus"(push of the pike of the antiquity so to speak) depicted correctly as well as the right-leaned movement of greek phalanxi, the sprint of the greeks out of formation into an attack, the more vulnerable right flank, fire and evade tactics of the light infantry (peltasts) and the light cavalry, the praying before battle, the  differences between slim and deep formations the differences between Spartans and the rest of the gang ... I'm reading a book atm Owen Rees‘ "Great Battles of The Classical Greek World" ... very exiting stuff ...  ... will get to Portobello beach and upload sand ... and then continue to paint pike bearers of different era ... :)
